Mary D. Magana, 75, a longtime resident of O’Brien, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019. A Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Knox City, TX Father John Perikomalayli officiating. Burial followed services at the O’Brien Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A rosary was held Friday at the funeral home.
Mary was born July 5, 1944 in Terlingua to Sylvestra (Catano) and Rito Delao. She was a member of the Santa Rosa Catholic Church. Mary loved taking care of her grandchildren and helping take care of others.
She is survived by her son Albert Magana and wife Vallia of Knox City; one daughter Olga Magana of Abilene; four grandsons Andrew Magana of San Antonio, Derrick Magana of Wichita Falls, Moses Dena of Wichita Falls and Samuel Dena of Abilene; five granddaughters Patricia Magana of Abilene, Shavonne Hernandez of Knox City, Monica Johnson of Seattle, WA, April Dickens of San Antonio and Samantha Dena of O’Brien; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Sylvestra (Catano) Delao, father Rito Delao, son Mack Magana and brother Paul Delao.
