Jesus Castorena, 72, of Goree passed away Dec. 3, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1947 in El Moral, Mexico to Jose Eliseo and Maria Dolores Castorena.
Prior to his disability, Jesus worked for Zeissel Farms as a farm hand. He accepted Christ and was a crusader. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He also enjoyed listening to the music of Ramon Ayala. At times you would find him playing his accordion. If he wasn’t on the phone talking to family or friends, he would be out checking on his drinking buddies. He enjoyed going to the casino and loved a good find at a garage sale. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and always put God first.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ramon Castorena, Guadalupe Castorena, Fidencio Castorena, Jose Castorena, Gilberto Castorena, Maria Elena Garcia, Margarita Hernandez and Beatrice Lara.
Jesus is survived by his wife Enedina of Goree; step-mother Maria Castorena of Quemado; his children Jesus Castorena of Goree, Jose Castorena of Knox City, Santiago Castorena of Munday, Dolores Ozuna and husband Tony of Irving, Maria Elena Nunez of Goree, Angelica Campbell and husband Jeff of Grand Prairie, Alfredo Castorena and wife Graciela of Abilene and Osiel Castorena of Goree; sisters Cecilia Flores of Munday and Veronica Castorena of Quemado; 22 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren with one more on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
A rosary was held on Dec. 6, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on Dec. 7, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rhineland. Interment followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
