ABILENE—Older adults and others with an interest in aging are invited to attend the free Senior Expo on Feb. 20 here at the Abilene Convention Center.
Doors will open at 8 a.m. for complimentary coffee and donuts. Vendors with a wide array of products and services will be ready to visit with you until 4 p.m. Some vendors will be providing basic health screening at no cost. Vendor applications are still being accepted.
Six educational programs will be presented throughout the day. Topics will include Medicare, Social Security, Healthy Nutrition, Retirement Living Choices, Care at Home and Mental Health.
A Town Hall meeting to discuss issues of importance to the older population will be at 11:30 AM. Information gathered here will be used by the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature to develop Resolutions to present to the Texas Legislature. Students from Abilene Christian University will serve as moderators, recorders and also serve the lunch.
Lunch tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets for those who are at least 60 years of age are $4, All others are $10. Tickets may be purchased by sending a reservation list and check to: Dr. Bruce Davis-1071 N. Judge Ely-Abilene, Texas, 79602.
There will be entertainment throughout the day and a lot of door prizes, including two grand prizes of $300 cards, will be given away.
