BENJAMIN—After hearing from Moffitt & Grimes about proposed new building, renovations and construction plans, the Benjamin Independent School District Board of Directors voted to proceed with architectural renderings of the designs for the project during its regular monthly meeting last Thursday.
The trustees approved a motion to engage Powell Youngblood & Taylor LLP as the school district bond counsel; OKed a motion to approve an interlocal agreement calling for a joint election with the City of Benjamin after earlier calling for the board election on May 2; and approved adult meal prices of $2.25 for breakfast and $4 for lunch.
Interim Supt. Gordon Thomas reported on the beginning of the second semester, student enrollment, school house renovation and the cafeteria audit; discussed the school safety and security grant and upcoming board training opportunities; and recognized board members for their service to the school district.
The trustees then went into executive session for 35 minutes before adjourning.
