MUNDAY—The Movement Space Dance Company attended the Legacy Dance Championship regional competition earlier this month in Irving.
The dancers competed in the contemporary, jazz lyrical, tap, and hip hop categories in the junior, teen, and senior divisions with 20 other studios in the solo, duo, trio, small group, and line categories.
All competition choreography was created by Cori Corcoran, owner/artistic director of TMS Dance Studio, and Jeremy Saxton, a Knox County native who is a professional dancer, national choreographer and director of student musicals in the DFW area.
While in Irving, the dance company earned several awards including high gold awards, platinum awards, top five overall high scoring placements, and performance awards.
The Movement Space Dance Company members also earned the coveted Legacy Sportsmanship Award in Irving which was chosen by the Legacy backstage staff. This award was given to the one studio that best displayed overall courtesy and support to all of their fellow competitors.
The Movement Space Dance Company will perform its competition pieces in their 15th annual recital that will take place on May 2-3 at the Munday High School. The recital will feature over 100 dancers from the area with ages ranging from 3-18 years old. The dance company will also be competing at the National Legacy Dance Championship in Grapevine on July 2-6.
