Oscar Weldon Gideon, 98, a longtime resident of Benjamin, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
A private graveside service was held Saturday at Benjamin Cemetery with Dennis Duke officiating. Services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. There was no public viewing or visitation, however online condolences can be shared with the family at www.smithfamilyfh.com.
Oscar was born Dec. 30, 1921 in Temple, OK, to Pearl Ellen (Green) and Oscar Mark Gideon. Oscar enjoyed bird hunting around Benjamin, gardening and tinkering with just about anything. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by two sons Mike Gideon of Bryan and Oscar Gideon and wife Shannon of Gilbert, AZ; two daughters Lana Gideon of Seymour and Sue Terry and husband Dave of Southlake; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Mildred Wynn and husband Ed of Knox City; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Oscar Gideon; four brothers James Gideon, Cecil Gideon, Marshall Gideon, Hollis Gideon; and sister Jane Gideon.
