MUNDAY—The Munday City Council conducted a special meeting Monday afternoon, but tabled any action on how to handle personnel for the Munday Police Department after hearing some of the available options.
The council is scheduled to meet again at 6 p.m. May 12.
Knox County Sheriff Hunter Embesi told the council that his department could add a deputy that would help assist Chief Chris Mendoza, but that it would cost. “You’ll have to pay one of your guys or my guy,” he said.
The sheriff currently is providing some help during the loss of Paul Davis, who gave notice and moved to Knox City.
In an executive session, the council also heard from attorney Lina Trevino and Mendoza.
Mendoza and Davis reportedly have both been working 24-hour shifts to allow the other days off.
Earlier, the council approved a resolution for the city to open a new bank account at First Bank Texas to handle the Munday Airport rehab grant.
