Deryenda Thompson

Deryenda Beth Thompson, 66, of Munday passed away after a long illness on Monday, May 25, 2020. She was born July 29, 1953 in Vernon to Dick and Mary Thompson.

Deryenda loved spending time with family, reading her Bible, Wayne’s Bible lessons and reading books about the Old West. Her favorite color was purple and she loved everything purple. She loved eating ice cream every night and pop tarts every morning, Reese’s candy and sometimes a ribeye steak.

She was preceded in death by her father Dick, her two brothers Danny and Doug, grandparents Momma Ola and Daddy Hub, Uncle Carroll, Aunt Alvie, Uncle Sam, sister-in-law Jana Thompson and a host of family there to meet her.

Deryenda is survived by two sons Charles Harrison Fails (Chuck) of Lake City, FL and John Douglas Fails of Steamboat Springs, CO, her mother Mary Thompson of Munday, two brothers Don Thompson of Munday and Sam Dennis of Clarendon, grandchildren Talon Ignacio Fails and Jolee Deryenda Fails and nephews, one niece, cousins, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Deryenda’s honor can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls (4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310), who took such wonderful care of her, or the church of Christ in Munday.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church of Christ in Munday. Interment will follow in Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

    Your loss is a great blow to all your friends from past and current times. So sorry we couldn’t see each other again one last time, before the Lord called you home, your friend always Susie.

    Prayers for Mary & all the family. Had many good times with Deryenda & Doug. There is much rejoicing in heaven with them there.(I lived with her in Amarillo after high school & it was such a fun time!)🙏🙏🙏😍
