From The News-Courier staff—
No positive tests were reported for the state-run COVID-19 tests of residents and staffs at the Brazos Valley Care Center and the Munday Nursing Home.
However, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Department of State Health and Services (DSHS) Central Office did find abnormally large number of COVID-19 false positives from a single testing laboratory. There were 70 in Burkburnett, 35 in Scurry County and 10 in Seymour.
This lab had run approximately 14,000 tests from nursing home facilities and community sampling efforts. The state said it will no longer be using this lab until the issue can be resolved but declined to name the lab.
HHSC representatives will be reaching out to all facilities that tested through this lab, explain the situation and offer options for additional testing or repeat testing.
