From The News-Courier staff—
MUNDAY—The Lake Creek Golf Club will host a field of 54, three-person teams this weekend in the annual Lake Creek three-person scramble event.
Morning and afternoon shotgun starts are planned Saturday. Then the teams will be split into four flights with the second and third divisions playing Sunday morning and the first and championship in the afternoon.
Chris Mendoza of the Lake Creek Men’s Golf Association said since the field is split, there is no need to get the Knox County’s judge approval for groups of 100 or more as ordered by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Mendoza added that other steps are being taken to ensure that social distancing practices will be followed.
Heath Blevins of Munday joined with Hagen Hutchinson of Stamford and Jake Doggett of Austin for a 35-under-par 53-52—105 to win last year, winning by five over 2018 champions Colton Colthorp and Matt Porter, who were joined by a new player.
Daily prizes will be given for longest drives and closest to the pin along with the top teams in each flight.
