MUNDAY—The Munday Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of David Finnell to a one-year probationary contract as the new music teacher at Munday Elementary in a special noon meeting July 2.
Superintendent Troy Parton informed trustees that Finnell had been recommended by both Munday Elementary Principal Kristi Bufkin and MHS Band Director Trey Singleton after they interviewed Finnell.
With more than 22 years of experience as a music teacher, Finnell most recently taught at a Galveston elementary school after previously being the middle school band director in Andrews.
The trustees also heard from Parton that only the children and grandchildren of school employees and a healthcare worker would be allowed at the daycare center. He added that strict guidelines would be in place to protect the safety of the children.
