GARLAND—The July 4th celebration of the wedding of Emory Penny and Ethi Raga turned out to be an adventure in planning with three date and three venue changes because of the pandemic.
First, it was scheduled at the Greenville Art Center and then at a resort in Key West, Fla., before finally it was held at the Freeman Baptist in Garland. Thirty-six guests, wearing masks, celebrated the blending of Ethiopian and American traditions.
Emory is the grandson of Betty and James McAfee and the son of Tamara Penny of Munday and Emory Penny, Sr. of Sachse.
