BENJAMIN—Gordon Thomas will continue to serve as the interim Superintendent for Benjamin ISD for the 2020-21 school year.
Trustees on the Benjamin ISD board voted in their July 13 meeting to extend Thomas’ contract as the interim.
The board also approved employing Bailey Coburn to teach sixth grade and as seventh/eighth grade history.
An amended application was accepted for an appraised value limitation with Griffin Trail Wind on qualified property for wind turbines.
In addition, they approved:
Transfer of warranty deed of lots 7, 8, and 9 in Block No. 30 located at 301 N. Hinton in Benjamin to Merl and Tonya Pryor;
Donating a 2003 Yazoo riding mower to the Benjamin Volunteer Fire Department;
A legal services agreement with Powell, Youngblood & Taylor, LLP;
The Brokerage Store as the football/student insurance carrier for 2020-2021;
The proposed Knox County Appraisal District budget for 2020;
The Region 9 contract for 2020-2021;
TREA RMC as the property and casualty insurance coverage carrier for 2020-2021;
Paying up to $397/month of each employee’s TRS-ActiveCare premium for 2020-2021.
Thomas reported on summer projects and plans for the upcoming school year, including remote learning possibilities. He discussed UIL activities for the 2020-2021 school year and school housing, including renovations.
