David (Lope) Lee Dockins transitioned July 26, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 10, 1934 in Delkab to Walter and Ora Dockins. He married Connie Cooks Aug. 19, 1955. They were blessed with 13 children: William, David, Dennis, Willie, John-A, Jim Earl, Connie, Angel, De’Landa, Bobby, LaWanda, LoTwanna and Teresa.
David farmed for many years until he retired, passing on his passion to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of House of Deliverance COGIC in Goree.
Dockins was preceded in death by parents Walter and Ora Dockins; siblings Nylon Dockins, Vernice Dockins, Malley Akins, Lillie Mae Dunlap, Adell Coleman, Arvelma Ingram, Olena Giddens and Niece Minner; sons William David Cooper and Jimmy Earl Dockins; son in law Blanford Paul; and grandchildren Tameka Cooper and Dymond Beamon.
He is survived by his wife Connie Dockins; children David Dockins Jr., Dennis Dockins, Willie Dockins, John A Dockins (Laura), Connie Dockins (Emerson) Angel Paul(Daniel) DeLanda Dockins, Bobby Dockins, LaWanna Hardeman, LoTwanna Hardeman and Teresa Franklin (Patrick); 84 grandchildren; and 167 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held last Saturday at Munday High School Auditorium. Interment followed at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation was held Friday at the funeral home.
