ALPINE—Redwine Cattle from Throckmorton and Spike Box Land & Cattle of Knox County combined to take second place in the annual Big Bend Ranch Rodeo in Alpine last weekend.
Members of the team included captain Ray Wakefield along with Pat Butler, Ray Bradley and Trace Nowak.
Wakefield is the manager of Redwine while Denny Pound is the manager of Spike Box, owned by Cactus Feeders.
Smith Cattle Company of Channing claimed the top prize, earning an automatic bid to the Working Ranch Cowboys Association World Championships to be held in November in Amarillo.
The Smith Cattle team also took home the top two individual awards: Rowdy Metallic was the top horse and rider Colten Jackson was named the top hand.The Quien Sabe Ranch team from Sweetwater placed third.
