BENJAMIN—The Knox County Commissioners were expected to complete and approve the final draft of the county’s budget proposal, including the new tax rate, today at a special meeting.
In special meeting last Thursday afternoon, the commissioners discussed the final draft and said they prefer leasing to buying any new vehicles. Commissioners also said they feel it is time to get the pay for the sheriff’s office more in line with neighboring counties.
In an earlier meeting, the commissioners said a lower tax rate of .66808, down from .74480, is being considered.
The commissioners also went into executive session to discuss personnel matters with Sheriff Hunter Embesi and attorney Lina Trevino present along with clerk Lisa Cypert. No action was taken when the meeting resumed.
