KNOX CITY—The City Council in Knox City plans to consider a proposed tax rate of .771185 cents per $100 valuation, which will bring in the same anticipated amount of funds as last year, when it holds a public meeting on Sept. 15 at city hall. A final vote will be held following that meeting.
A public notice appears elsewhere in today’s issue with details.
The council also discussed the possibility of raising the water rates but tabled any action for 90 days.
After hearing concerns from council member J.R. Hodges about tax appraisal errors, the council approved renewing a contract with The Knox County Tax Appraisal District to collect taxes for the new year.
The council also approved an amended order for the Nov. 3 election, noting that early voting would take place Oct. 13 through Oct. 30 with extended hours of 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Oct. 20 and Oct. 29 at city hall.
Andy Shaver was again appointed to the North Central Texas Municipal Water Authority board of directors.
City manager Sam Watson reported that work had begun on the water tower and that work at the airport was scheduled to start next month.
