KNOX CITY—The schools here in Knox City and in O’Brien have been closed for two weeks after reports that one junior high and three high school students had tested positive for the virus on Monday.
All students will be in remote learning until Oct. 6.
Supt. Colin Howeth sent a letter to all parents and guardians explaining what happened.
He said that after contacting the health authority and seeing that contact tracing found almost all students would be considered “close contact” and asked to quarantined for 14 days that closing the schools would be the best option.
He added that the elementary was also closed because the older students had siblings there.
All athletic events are cancelled for two weeks, too.
