From TxDOT—
CHILDRESS – The Texas Department of Transportation began a $12.6 million Super 2 project in Knox County Oct. 6 under the construction of A.L. Helmcamp.
The project will extend from FM 267 east to the Baylor County line on Hwy 82 and consist of subgrade widening, flex base, extending structures and asphaltic concrete pavement. The Super 2 will feature periodic alternating passing lanes, which allow faster vehicles to pass creating opportunities to pass in both directions in a safe manner.
Drivers will not be impacted by the project until mid-November, when lane closures will begin. Portable traffic signals will be used during construction around the Vera town section. As with all construction projects, drivers are reminded to reduce their speed in the construction zone, obey all posted signs and reduce all distractions in their vehicles. The regulated speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph in areas within the project where roadway construction is being performed.
The project is expected to be complete in April of 2022.
