Trevino takes individual champ
From The News-Courier staff—
KNOX CITY—Knox City High School agriculture teacher Taylor Martinez brought her students prepared and ready to pitch horseshoes, and it paid dividends as Knox City captured the Texas State Horseshoe championship at Weatherford last Saturday, blowing out second-place Howe, 210-110.
Freshman Nicholas Trevino emerged as the overall individual champion but not without a fight from teammate Tyler Delosrios, needing three late ringers for a narrow 41-36 edge to take the belt buckle.
Joining them on the winning team were Anthony Hernandez and Cason Lewis.
Sam Barnard and Austin Hacker were team members of Knox City #2.
The event was hosted by The Texas Horseshoe Pitchers Association and the Weatherford Noon Lions.
