Benjamin—The Benjamin City Council approved the appointment of Jon Faris to fill the remaining term left by Donnie Ryder’s resignation during its regular monthly October meeting. Ryder’s resignation had been accepted at the September meeting.
The Council approved acceptance of sealed bids on the city’s old safe. Bids will be opened at the next meeting.
The council tabled action on some ordinances as well as reopening the city yard and consideration of a security system for the yard.
Mayor Janet Reed reported on how collections are going on the delinquent accounts (30+ days) while Director of Maintenance Rick Molina and Director of Public/Water Works Ronnie White provided additional reports.
The council went into executive session for 30 minutes but took no actions on personnel policies.
In its previous meeting, the council approved the removal of two dumpsters on the City Hall yard and OK’d consulting an engineer firm concerning TCEQ compliance at well sites.
Going forward, regular meetings will be held the third Monday of every month, adding meetings on the second Mondays in August and September.
