The Munday High School band received 1s from all three judges in the Region 7 marching contest last Saturday in Mineral Wells to earn a 1 rating for the seventh straight year.
Meanwhile, the Knox City High School band received 1,2,2 ratings from the judges for an overall 2 rating,
The Purple Cloud band, directed by Trey Singleton, performed “Return to the Old West, which includes Ghost Riders in the Sky, They Call the Wind Mariah and Silverado.
“It’s going to take more than two-week shutdown, ice day, canceled performances and a lot of missed practices and games to break your spirit,” he told band members in a Facebook post.
The Greyhound Pride band, directed by Mark Tucker, performed an original arrangement from Luke McMIllan entitled “The Legend of the Dragon.”
Only 2A, 4A and 6A bands will advance to the state contest, scheduled Dec. 14 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
