Sarah Phillips

Sarah LaCresha (Floyd) Phillips, 80, passed away Nov. 17, 2020. She was born June 15, 1940 to Herman and Annie Floyd.

LaCresha was baptized as a young adult and was a member of the Munday Church of Christ which she considered her Church home.

LaCresha’s main job and the most rewarding, was farming with her husband Joe Lynn and raising her children. Later in life she worked at Leo Fetch Insurance then at Johnson Seedless Watermelons between Munday and Knox city. Afterwards she went to work in the watermelon business with her brother Joe Lynn and sister in law Betty in California. She loved recalling those sweet memories. Before leaving Munday, she spent a few years working at Charles Baker Insurance. After moving closer to Janie, she worked at the CVS distribution center in Ennis before retiring at 74 years old. At 72 years old she won the battle with breast cancer but over the last few years had other health issues.

LaCresha enjoyed reading…..A LOT. She loved a great cup of coffee and her close friends. She was quiet but loved her family deeply.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Lynn Phillips; parents Herman and Annie Floyd; brothers Joe Lynn and Wayland Floyd; granddaughter Christi Jo Phillips; and grandson Joe Allen Phillips.

LaCresha is survived by two sons Chris Phillips and wife Penny and Ronnie Phillips all of Munday; daughter Janie Hendrix and husband Tim of Ennis; grandchildren Michelle, Sara, Brandon, James and Dusty; also 10 great grandchildren.

A private family graveside was held Friday, Nov. 20 at Gillispie Cemetery  under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

LaCresha was a classmate and good friend in our teen years. Always nice and polite with an infectious giggle. May she rest in peace.
