KNOX CITY—The Knox City/O’Brien Consolidated Independent School District board of trustees approved taking bids for awnings around the Knox City Elementary campus and cafeteria during its regular monthly meeting last week.
These awnings will eliminate students and staff from having to walk about campus in the rain or other bad weather.
The trustees also approved the shared services arrangement with Abilene Regional Day School for the Deaf, which will allow the district to use the services of Abilene ISD in the event services are needed.
The board discussed cancellation of remote learning across the district at the end of the first semester, but no action was taken.
Supt. Colin Howeth provided updates concerning school as it relates to the current pandemic, focusing on current basketball district guidelines as they apply to capacity of gyms and ticketing for fans.
The trustees set a meeting for 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 to hear the final audit for the district.
