HASKELL—Sara, 44, and Jose Minan, 48, of Austin, daughter and son-in-law of Rosie and Rick Ake of Munday, died in a two-vehicle accident one mile south of Haskell on Hwy. 277 the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 24.
In the summary of the accident, Sgt. Frederick Biddle, DPS reported that the Minans were driving South on Hwy 277 in their 2012 Mazda MAJ while Michael Bowman, 55, of Goree was driving north in his 2013 Ford pickup. Bowman failed to yield right-of-way as he was turning left across traffic toward Business 277 and collided with the Mazda, which left the roadway and caught fire.
The Minans’ 9-year-old son managed to get out of the vehicle and was treated and released at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Bowman was able to get out of his vehicle but died at the scene by taking his own life.
