Gladene Green, 84, longtime Benjamin resident passed away Jan. 2, 2021. She was born on the family’s farm outside of Munday on June 26, 1936 to Frank and Addie Yeager. She graduated Munday High School with the Class of 1954. She and the late Vandel Green were married March 5, 1965 in Olney.
Gladene worked at the Benjamin School cafeteria, was the Deputy County Clerk for Knox County for many years, worked at Bud’s Cafe, was a home health aide and most recently worked at the Wichita Brazos Museum in Benjamin. She was also well known for her “Benjamin News Column” in the Knox County News Courier that she wrote for many, many years. She was very knowledgeable of all things Knox County and very much enjoyed visiting and learning about everyones life.
Gladene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vandel; brothers Glen “Son” Yeager and Troy Yeager; sisters Ruby “Snooks” Wynn and Maxine Nelson; and one great grandson, Mason Herring.
Survivors include daughters Debbie Moorhouse and husband Mike of Knox City and Diane Evans and husband Mike of Childress; grandchildren Beckie Smith and husband Kevin, Cody Taylor and wife Kayla, Ashlee Evans and fiancé Coy Teichleman, Lynne Rogers and husband Michael, Elizabeth Herring and Nathan Herring, Jessica Hutchison and husband Brandon, Will Moorhouse and wife Meagan, Jeffery Evans and wife Jessica and Ryan Evans and wife Courtney; 24 great grandchildren Dillon, Randi, Peyton, Piper, Baylee, Joe Dan, Lexee, Katee, Blaze, Ambrey, Karson, Maci, Taylor, Weston, Kaylee, Madi, Noah, Ellie, Christian, Chloe, Colton, Tristan, Allie and Elin and one due in August; great great granddaughter Ava; sisters Glenda McNeely and Shirley Seal; also, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 4, 2021 at the Benjamin Cemetery with Dennis Duke officiating under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
