HASKELL—If you are looking for trees to plant windbreaks, screens and wildlife habit, you are in luck as the Haskell Soil and Water Conservation District has announced it is taking orders.
The hardwood and evergreen seedlings, grown by the Texas Forest Service, are specific to this region of Texas.
Pecan trees are already sold out, but Shumard Red Oak, Bur Oak. Chinkapin Oak and American Plum will be available for $2 each while the Afghanistan Pine and the Oriental Arborvitae will cost $3 each.
These trees tend to sell out fast. The deadline will be Feb. 10. Contact Elizabeth Olson at 940 864-2617 if interested.
