MUNDAY—The Munday Moguls (13-9) will advance to the 1A bi-district round against the Aspermont Hornets (12-8) at 6 p.m. Friday at the Stamford High School Gym. Munday will be the home team.
The Moguls wrapped up the No. 2 seed position in District 16-1A with a 7-3 record, scoring 60-32 and 57-38 victories over Northside and Chillicothe last week.
The Hornets earned third place in District 15-1A with an 8-4 record, knocking the Rotan Yellowhammers out of a share of first place with a 57-43 win last Tuesday.
The Moguls pulled away with 21-5 and 17-0 cushions in the middle quarters against Northside as Jaxon Bowman and Kelton Carver each scored 14 points while Bryson Wilson added 13/
“I was very pleased with our offensive play,” Coach Adrian Daniel said. “We had a season low six turnovers and had 15 assists. The basketball was really moving and the kids were making the right plays. Our defense really stepped up in the third quarter and held them to zero points.”
The Moguls found the range for 11 3s on Friday afternoon with Wilson and Carver leading the scoring with 20 and 15, respectively.
”I thought our defense was really good, applying pressure and getting them out of their rhythm offensively,” Daniel added. “It was a good game for us and we got to play some of our younger guys and give them a little bit of varsity experience.”
