BENJAMIN—The Benjamin City Council approved a motion to move forward with raising city sales taxes for the Nov, 21 election during its regular monthly meeting last week.
An interlocal agreement with the Benjamin Independent School District to hold the May 1 election at the Benjamin Memorial Building was also OKed, Mayor Janet Reed will notify the election judge.
The council approved a resolution approving cooperation with the city’s service by AEP to review AEP Texas Inc.’s requested final reconciliation of advanced metering costs; hiring legal and consulting services to negotiate with the company and direct any necessary litigation and appeals. There will be no cost for the city.
Ronny White, Director of Public/Water Works reported about booster pump damage repairs, moving dirt to city street holes, meeting with Allen Phillips on mixing station questions and removing a Helmcamp valve to fix a leak at the cemetery.
