Munday’s ‘The Survivor” advances to state, Benjamin comedy named as alternate

Munday High’s “The Survivor” advanced to the state competition, scheduled April 30 and May 1 in Corsicana, as one of two survivors from the regional contest last week at the Murphey Arts and Performance Hall in San Angelo.

Benjamin High’s “The Red Velvet Cake War” earned alternate status, barely missing a third straight trip to state. Benjamin had participated in 2019 with “The Effects of Gamma Rays on the Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” in 2018 and with “Blithe Spirit.” Last year’s competition was canceled because of COVID-19.

MHS director Karen Longan said it will be Munday’s 11th trip to state in OAP.  “We feel blessed and honored to represent our school, the district, and the other two outstanding programs in Knox County this year,” she added.
