The cast and crew of Munday’s one-act play “The Survivor” will compete in the state OAP contest in Corsicana starting today.

CORSICANA—Munday High will be performing “The Survivor” at 5:30 p.m. here Saturday at the Corsicana Performing Center as the last of eight plays competing in the UIL state one-act-play contest.

Tickets are available online only with a code that was shared on the school’s Facebook page.  “We would love for as many as can make the trip to be there,” director Karen Longan said.

“We have been to state 11 times, including this year,” she added. “In 1993 we were state champions, in 1997 we were third and in 2008 we were second.  We are honored and thrilled to be able to perform again at this level.

“Our play is the true story of teenagers trapped in the Warsaw Ghetto during WWII under Nazi occupation. The lessons learned through this play will stay with us for a lifetime.  En route to the contest, we will visit the Dallas Holocaust Museum.  We have also watched film footage and read first-hand accounts of this time in history and learned lessons from the survivors.
