The Food and Drug Administration authorized the Pfizer vaccines for children ages 12 to 15, widening the U.S. population that will be protected against the virus and bolstering chances for a safe return to full-time school in the fall.
However, youth in Knox County will have to wait until the Pfizer shots are available here or at one of the nearby places offering them.
Stephen Kuehler of the Knox County Hospital reported that he still has plenty of the Moderna vaccines available for all the others eligible and wanting their shots.
Knox County has had only one active case of COVID-19 this month after seeing none reported for the previous five weeks.
