HASKELL – Mary Jane and Nathan Buerkle bought The Drug Store in Haskell in October 2019 and have been working diligently to support the surrounding area ever since.

They manage The Drug Store as the family business it has always been and are working to expand the services even more. The first owner of the business was Doyle High, and the second was Lonnie Meredith. The Buerkles bought the business from Meredith, who continues to work in the pharmacy. Nathan said Lonnie Meredith spends as much time working in the pharmacy now as when he owned it. They credit Meredith with being a good mentor. Mary Jane’s mother, Linda Short, worked there for 35 years, beginning as a part-time bookkeeper and eventually as manager before retiring. Short also still works there at times.
