Birdie Florence Helton, 83, a lifelong resident of Knox City, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021. A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Knox City. Burial followed the services at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Birdie was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Knox County, on Bush and Burnett Ranch to Minnie O. (Camp) and Forest Dudley Reeves. She married Bobby Joe Helton on Oct. 19, 1957 in Rochester and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Birdie was a part owner of PBH oilfield supply. She loved reading, and spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Birdie was a true friend to everybody.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Joe Helton of Knox City; daughter Tammie Hosea of Bullard; granddaughter Katelan Schmidt of McKinney; grandson Matthew Hosea and wife Courtney of Omaha, NE; great-granddaughters Parker Schmidt of McKinney, Logyn Hosea and Collyns Hosea of Omaha, NE; sister Faye Corley of Mineola; sister-in-law Penny Adkins and husband Robert of Sweetwater; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie and Forest Reeves; sisters Ruthie Routen and Betty Minzer.
