CHILDRESS – During the 39th Annual Texas Aviation Conference, Childress District Director of Operations Darwin Lankford was named the Routine Airport Maintenance Program (RAMP) Coordinator of the Year.
RAMP began in 1996 and was designed to assist communities with maintenance programs by offering state financial assistance. Lankford was selected for his years of service and dedication to ensuring the 10 airports in the Childress District receive the assistance they need.
Lankford began his career with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) as a summer hire in 1984. After graduating from Texas Tech University, Lankford was hired as an Engineering Assistant for the Childress District in 1989. He earned his professional engineer license in 1994. In 1997, he became the Maintenance Engineer and in 2004 was promoted to Director of Operations where he has faithfully served in that role for the past 17 years.
“Darwin’s leadership and commitment made him an excellent choice for this award,” stated Childress District Engineer, Marty Smith. “He has made our district proud.”
