Rainfall totals for August

MUNDAY –Total rain fall in Knox County in August was 1.09 inches, bringing the year to date accumulation up to 23.2 inches, according to Brandon Carr at the USDA –NRCS James E. “Bud” Smith Plant Materials Center.

The average accumulation by August is 16.4 inches, so rainfall this year is 3.8 inches more than average. Averaging the recorded high / low temperatures for August this year put the average temperature at 83.5 degrees. The average temperature for previous years of 82.6 degrees makes this year’s average temperature almost one degree warmer.
