MUNDAY – After more than seven years as editor of the Knox County News-Courier, and a career as newspaper and magazine writer and editor that began in 1959 as the sportswriter at the Wichita Falls Times-Record New, James McAfee is finally ending his work here.
James and wife Betty are moving to Plano to be nearer their children and looking forward to a different lifestyle.
The McAfees were hosted to a going away party at the Munday church of Christ last Sunday and presented with a memorial plate and many well wishes.
“Betty and I have certainly enjoyed our time here in Munday and Knox County but moving back to the metroplex seemed like the best thing to do now.”
“We appreciate all the nice people at the church who made us feel welcome seven years ago and helped us when we lost our youngest daughter in 2020.”
As editor of the Knox County newspaper, James knew many business and community leaders, as well as coaches and athletes at the county schools.
The McAfees will be missed, and we hope to see them again soon.
