Jesse Rudy Jacques (Bubba), 44, of Abilene passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021. He was born Oct. 29, 1976 in Seymour, to Rudy and Ermelinda Jacques. Rudy lived in Goree as a young man for many years. He married at the age of 16 to his beautiful wife Shelly. Together they had three boys Jesse, Jeramy and Isacc, whom he was very proud of. They moved to Abilene in 2002.
Rudy was a true friend and had many wonderful friends. He was always cracking jokes and lighting up any room with his smile. He loved to play football for the Goree Wildcats. “Back to back state champs” was something he loved shouting out. His favorite team was the Houston Texans and the Texas Longhorns. He enjoyed playing sports while in school. He and Tony Garcia would play basketball before school and during lunch. They would always brag about being undefeated in the game “around the world”. Rudy was loved by many. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, he was always chasing them and making them laugh.
Rudy is survived by his wife Shelly Jacques; three sons Jesse Rudy Jacques, Jr. and wife Sonia, Jeramy John Jacques and Isacc Jaques; grandchildren Jessalyn, Analiah, Josiah and Roman Jacques; parents Rudy and Ermelinda Jacques; brother Rick Fontenot; sister Delores J. Rodriguez; brothers Bobby Joe Jacques and Daniel Fontenot; grandparents Jesse Rudy and Rosa Jacques and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many beloved friends.
A Rosary and visitation was held Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021 at the funeral home in Munday. Funeral Mass was held Sept. 17, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rhineland. Interment followed at the Goree Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
