High school bands from both Munday and Knox City will be heading to the Alamodome soon to compete in the UIL state marching contest. Both received the coveted “1” rating at a regional event last Saturday, Oct. 16, in Wichita Falls.
The Greyhound Pride Band under Knox City High School Principal Mark Tucker will be participating in the statewide competition in San Antonio on Nov. 2. Joining them from Knox County will be the Purple Cloud Band from Munday.
Trey Singleton is band director in Munday (and also the high school principal). He said the band’s “storm” theme incorporated thunder and lightning sound effects and even started with a “bulletin” from the National Weather Service.
Both Knox County bands are among 15 in division 1A that will compete in San Antonio.
