KNOX COUNTY – As initially reported in April, 2022, Jan (Myers) Beaty and husband Rev. Gary Beaty were working on a project to renovate a memorial for the veterans interred at Gillespie cemetery. Since the passing of many of the families’ members, the Gillespie memorial had fallen into disarray. The 35 crosses that were placed in 1965 by Agnes Myers had deteriorated over the years.
