Words to live by for those over 60

Body
Former Editor James McAfee sent this to me a few days ago, author unknown. These are wise words indeed for those over 60, and interesting to note for those not yet 60 … Between 60 and death. It’s time to use the money you saved up. Use it and enjoy it. Don’t just keep it for those who may have no notion of the sacrifices you made to get it. Warning: This is also a bad time for investments, even if it seems wonderful or fool-proof. They only bringproblemsandworries. This is a time for you to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Baked Blueberry Oatmeal

Body
Oats are so versatile. I grew up with quick-cooking oats and old fashion rolled oats. My mom fed us well and stirred up a pot of warm oatmeal quite often. I liked them with the basic pat of butter, splash of milk, and a spoonful of sugar.

Planting asparagus

Body
For gardeners wanting a perennial that is a faithful producer, asparagus is for them. Spring is the optimum time of the year to plant asparagus since plants in early spring have the most rapid growth.

AMANDA'S LIBRARY MUSES

Body
“And on the subject of burning books: I want to congratulate librarians, not famous for their physical strength or their powerful political connections or their great wealth, who, all over this country, have staunchly resisted anti-democratic bullies who have tried to remove certain books from their shelves, and have refused to reveal to thought police the names of persons who have checked out those titles. So, the America I loved still exists, if not in the White House or the Supreme Court or the Senate or the House of Representatives or the media. The America I love still exists at the front desks of our public libraries.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country Unfortunately, in the library world, the revolution to ban certain books, control what the public can read, and wanting to know who are reading these books is on the rise. Librarians everywhere are joining together to take matters into their own hands with the sole purpose of protecting books.

No-Bake Cookie Chocolate Oatmeal

Body
This recipe will feel so indulgent and cooks up to the texture of a rich, smooth, and silky chocolate pudding. With the combination of oats and chocolate, it stirs up thoughts of the famous no-bake cookies my mom has made for many, many years. The no-bake cookie is a treasure in our family, as I am sure it is with many of you.

April is National Lawn and Garden Month

Body
It is finally the month of April, after what seems to have been an odd few months. Maybe our weather will settle into a predictable pattern now that it is spring and April is here.
