Munday Council discusses screening police chief candidates, sex offender ordinance

MUNDAY – City Attorney Lina Trevino updated the City Council on research done in preparing a city ordinance regarding registration and restrictions where sex offenders may live. While there are already state laws in place, the council learned the city may also have an ordinance in place. The council is considering an ordinance to restrict a sex offender from living within 1,000 feet of any place children normally congregate, such as schools, day care, playgrounds, swimming pools, dance studio, public library, or other locations. The council will review further.
