Body MUNDAY – Homecoming celebrations roll around every four years for the Munday Moguls, and events fill the weekend. Here’s the schedule for this weekend’s activities: FRIDAY September 16 5 – 7 p.m. Early registration at high school 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Lions Club Catfish Dinner

Body MUNDAY – The Lions Club is hosting a Catfish Dinner on Friday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the old high school gym. Tickets are $15 for Adults, $10 for Kids 10 & under, $15 for all To Go plates. Tickets available from any Lions Club member or at the door.

Commissioners approve budget, tax rate

Body BENJAMIN – The County Commissioners approved the 2022-2023 tax rate and budget at the regular scheduled meeting on Sept. 12. The tax rate is determined by the appraised values of properties multiplied by a percentage to arrive at the amount needed for the budget.

Munday school board sets tax rate

Body MUNDAY – In a special meeting on Aug. 29, the Munday CISD trustees approved the budget for 2022-23 and set the school district tax rates at 1.0145 for M&O (Maintenance and Operations) and 0.4700 for I&S (Interest and Sinking), for a total tax rate at 1.4845.

County welcomes rainfall in August

Body KNOX COUNTY – Brandon Carr, Manager at the USDA-NRCS James E. “Bud” Smith Plant Materials Center, 4.99 inches of rainfall was received in August, helping to alleviate dry conditions. By comparison, the average rainfall in August is 2.23 inches, and only 1.

Vibe Salon after one year

Body MUNDAY – A year ago, the Vibe Salon in Munday was noted as a new business opening in Munday at 211 W. Main St. After one year, Cherè Hodges’ reports her business is thriving and busy. “I’ve had a very successful first year,” said Hodges.
