It has been a fast and furious three weeks of football and the Benjamin Mustangs cannot wait to open the season on Friday, August 26 as they host Moran at their new football facility. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm. There is a lot of buzz and excitement around town and in the locker room over this year’s football team and staff. The coaching staff has been working hard and the kids have been working even harder. Coach Nathan Hayes said, “I feel like the team is coming together and they are buying into our program”. The senior players are providing some great leadership for the team and practices are super competitive with young guys like Weston Weatherford and Hudson Cates pushing guys both ways. The Mustangs have been challenged early and often by Coach Hayes and Coach Rigdon to establish a new team identity; one of tough, gritty football fit for a deep playoff run. The team is not without their own motivation. Returners Brody White, John Wolfarth, Nicholas Ham, Mario SIlva, Dustin Cottingham, Nicholas Stovall, Gage Devlin and Xavien Patterson lead a senior group ready to make a big leap in 2022. Together with new additions Grayson Rigdon and Tallon Hayes, the Mustangs are looking forward to their season starting soon. This year team captains for the Mustangs are John Wolforth, Brody White, Mario Silva, and Grayson Rigdon.
