Ethel “Missy” Ivie of Knox City, Texas, passed away Jan. 21, 2026, in Abilene, Texas, at the age of 76. She was born Nov. 18, 1949, in West Columbia, Texas.
Missy was preceded in death by her parents, Leldon White and Ethel Belle Barton; sisters Pearl Bederka, Mary Dale Cerda, Karon Skipworth, Sharon Winfield and Carol Gale White; brother Buddy White; daughter-in-law Jessica Browning; and niece Janice Miller.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Johnny Ivie; sons Don Patterson and wife, Renae, Tony Patterson and Nicholas Patterson; and stepdaughters Nicki Eckman and husband, Scott, Holly Merritt and husband, Cory, Sheri Warren and Jessica Swanson.
Missy and Johnny were also lovingly raising two of their grandchildren, Xavien Patterson and Sarah Patterson, who brought great joy to their lives.
She is further survived by her brother-in-law Randy Skipworth; her dear friend who was like a sister to her, Lou Rios; and a large, loving family of 28 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Missy was a cosmetologist for over 20 years, a profession that reflected her love for people and her gift for conversation and connection. Throughout her life she wore many hats: wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She wore each one with love and grace. Her laugh was unforgettable and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She was known for giving the best advice and loving her family and friends fiercely.
Missy was a faithful Christian and a member of O’Brien Baptist Church.
Services were under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at O’Brien Baptist Church in O’Brien, Texas. Rev. Mark Farr officiated.
