Mary Elizabeth Thompson departed this world and went home to her rest on Friday, August 16, 2024, just 10 days short of her 95th birthday. She slipped away peacefully in the Munday NursingHomewithsonDon Thompson at her side.

Mary was a wonderful and amazing wife, mother, daughter,sister,grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a caring person who spent her life caring for others, going above and beyond to be sure all around her were cared for.

She was born at home to Elbert and Annie Dennis in a farmhouse in the Mulberry Creek area in Taylor County, Texas. Later her mothermarriedJohnBrown, and she grew up mostly in Big Spring, Texas, and Sweetwater, Texas, where shemetandmarriedCharles Richard “Dick” Thompson fromDoan’sCrossing,Texas.

DickandMarywereentrepreneurs and enjoyed many different ventures in their working career. Dick was a commercial pilot—spray pilot/crop duster, charter pilot, flight instructor—for most of his adult life, and Mary managed their office and business projects as well as running the home. After Dick retired from flying and they settled in Munday, Texas, they traveled the U.S. together working as a rightof- way agent for oil companies and telephone companies. They raised parakeets, and ran a sign and printing business in Munday. Mary was by Dick’s side in all their ventures in life.

She was a member of the church of Christ in Munday since 1974 and studied and read her Bible every day for many, many years.

Mary is survived by sons Don Thompson and Sam Dennis, sisters Betty Nelson and Carol Raczka, many nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.

Shewasprecededindeath byherparents,ElbertDennis and Annie Brown; husband, Dick Thompson; daughter, Deryenda Beth Thompson; sons Lloyd Douglas Thompson and Danny Charles Thompson; brother Leonard Brown of Alberta, Canada; and sisters Nina Manuzza, AnnieMaeOsbourne,Wanda Mize-McGee, Lola Oden and Maxine Brown.

A viewing will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday, Texas. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 21 at 10 a.m. at Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Munday, followed by a memorial service to celebrate her life at the Church of Christ in Munday at 11 a.m.

Honorary pallbearers are RichardThompson,Geoffrey Thompson,JoshThompson, ChuckFails,DennisThompson and Jesse Villanueva.
