The Knox City Greyhounds competed in their second scrimmage of the season on Friday, August 19 against Paducah and Hermleigh as one final tune up before their week 1 competition at the Gridiron Classic in Jayton on August 27. Coach Caleb Callaway said “we were able to run a lot of plays both offensively and defensively and saw a lot of improvement from our first scrimmage against Nazareth and Jayton. Most importantly, we were able to come out of the scrimmages healthy”. The goal for the Greyhounds is to see growth from week to week and they are hoping to see that continue as they enter Week 1 of their season. “Our guys did a good job of using things we have worked on this past week and it showed on the field. We are now going into our first game week where we play Strawn on Saturday in Jayton at 5:30pm”. The Greyhounds are planning to continue to grow and improve this week, as Strawn is an established program that is known to be a good contender to make a deep run in the playoffs year in and year out. Coach Callaway said their team is prepared to execute and play fundamentally sound football on Saturday and if they do that, they are capable of having a good outing.
