Coming off the high of winning their own Marlboro Man Memorial Tournament and putting two more wins in the books with Post and Newcastle on Tuesday night, the Lady Stangs traveled to San Angelo to compete in the Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament, a forty-team tournament. The Lady Stangs went 2-1 in their pool, grabbing wins from Alpine (3A) and Midland Christian (Private School) and a loss to a well put together Ingram (3A) team 22-25,18-25.

The Lady Stangs landed a spot in the Silver Bracket (Top 16 teams) after their performance during pool play. In the first round, the Lady Stangs beat Rankin and then fell to Odessa High to play for third against San Angelo Central JV. Coach Propps said, “When you see “JV team”, you think you might have a chance but this 6A JV team could beat a lot of good volleyball teams. We battled and lost 22-25,24-26 to end up 4th in the Silver Bracket”. The Lady Stangs had a great 48 hours of volleyball. The Nita Vannoy Memorial Tournament consisted of very fast-paced games with a lot of great competition. Coach Propps said, “it’s what we needed. We still have work to do”. The Lady Stangs are sitting 13-3 overall, with Gold-Burg on Tuesday at home at 5/6pm. Later, the Varsity girls travel back down to the San Angelo area to play in Bronte’s Showdown Tournament. They have Miles, Harper and Cornerstone Christian in our pool play on Friday.
