Candidates file for May election

Body KNOX COUNTY – The final day to file to be on the ballot for city elections on May 6 was last Friday Feb. 17. In Munday, the Mayor’s office is up for election, and long-term Mayor Bob Bowen was the only person that applied for that spot on the bal lot.

New city council member sworn in

Body MUNDAY – The Munday City Council met in regular session on Feb.14 and Municipal Judge Ida Jo Watson swore in Leroy Torres as newly appointed council member to replace Billy Carden who stepped down last month.

Stefany’s Crepe Station now open

Body MUNDAY – Stefany and Lee Rowland opened Stefany’s Crepe Station in Munday at 210 W Main Street. The newly opened restaurant will feature savory and dessert crepes, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and daily specials.

County jail set to open

Body BENJAMIN – At the regular scheduled monthly meeting on Feb. 13, Sheriff Bridger Bush advised the County Commissioners that after months of renovation the jail in Benjamin is set to re-open in a few days. “We’re rocking and rolling,” said Bush.

Wyman Meinzer gives program to students

Body BENJAMIN – On Monday Feb. 13, State Photographer of Texas and photographer / author Wyman Meinzer met with students at the 4-H building in Benjamin. He talked about his inspirational path to success as an example of how the students can achieve their dreams in life.

Munday VFD update

Body MUNDAY – Munday Volunteer Fire Department started the new year with a new outlook. The department is down in numbers but committed more than ever to training. Several department members completed CPR/ AED First Aid training.
