    According to the records at the Wichita-Brazos Museum in Benjamin, there have been 44 school districts in the county. Most current-day residents can remember four, a mere fraction of the number districts once scattered across the county. The heaviest concentration of the school districts matched the population, with the majority located south of the Brazos River.
